PKVES and CRES Play for REFI
Two Rockingham County Public Schools battled it out in a charity volleyball game on October 8 at the Montevideo Middle School gym. Teachers from Cub Run and Peak View elementaries played volleyball to benefit the Rockingham Educational Foundation, Inc. The Peak View team won 3-0 in front of a capacity crowd.
"The spirit in the gym was tremendous, everyone was helping or cheering or playing and everyone had a wonderful evening," Janet Wendelken, Executive Director of the Rockingham Educational Foundation, Inc., noted after the event.
The Peak View team members were Mrs. Marcy “Wild One” Williams, Mrs. Kam 'The Slam” Shull, Mr. Josh “Nice Guy” Eye, Mrs. Beth “Diva” Davis, Mr. Joe “The Show” Ford, Mr. Matt “The Gorilla” Smith, Miss Kristen “Gotta Love” Summer, Mr. Marty “X-Factor” Judd, Mr. Philip “Cash or Checks” Painter, and Mrs. Sarah “Power House” Peters.

All proceeds from entrance fees and the concessions stands went to REFI, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and facilitating programs to enhance education in RCPS. Funds benefit the core programs of REFI: Innovative Idea Grants, Teacher Recognition, Early Literacy and Learning Support, Scholarships, and Teacher Supply Depot. The event raised over $2750.
The volleyball game is one of many events for REFI as it enjoys a year-long celebration of its 15th anniversary in support of RCPS educational programs.
