iMac Computers at $10 Each SOLD OUT

Rockingham County Public Schools completed the online auction of Apple iMac computers and still has 150+ more to be sold. These computers are typically
8-9 years old but still are in working order. They are being offered for sale on a first come, first served basis for $10.00 each on Friday, June 5, Monday, June 8, and Tuesday, June 9 at the School Board Office, 100 Mount Clinton Pike, Harrisonburg. Office hours are 8:00 am until 4:30 pm.
Once the purchased computer is removed from RCPS property the
Rockingham County School Board and the RCPS Technology Staff will
assume no responsibility for service issues. There will be no returns
or refunds. Pick up only--no computers will be shipped.
Payment must be by check (made payable to RCPS) or cash--no credit or debit cards.
Purchasers unaccustomed to Macintosh computers should be aware that
these computers do not have Apple's current operating system, OS X, on
them. They come with OS 9.2 which means that software including printer
drivers you may wish to add to these computers may not be available.
These computers do have a modem as well as a network jack so they can
connect to the internet either by dial-up or high speed links. However,
the processor speed is slow by today's standards and the amount of RAM
is small. They come with AppleWorks on them for word processing,
spreadsheet, and database. AppleWorks has the ability to open and "save
as" documents in Word/Excel format. Microsoft Office is not installed
on these computers. They also come with WordPerfect 3.5e on them.
WordPerfect is not used within Rockingham County Public Schools but
WordPerfect 3.5e can save documents in Word format.
These computers would be satisfactory for a student to use in
completing school assignments. Documents could be transported to/from
school either on a USB thumbdrive or via the RCPS student e-mail
accounts (for those that have them). If the purchaser has internet
access, the computers have Internet Explorer 5.1 on them and would be
satisfactory for viewing various information-based websites (such as
Google) but would be unsatisfactory for online games, videos, and other
interactive sites.
