The Turner Ashby High School Yearbook has once again won a Trophy Class rating from the Virginia High School League. On October 27, 2007, the results of the annual VHSL award were given at the Champions Workshop. Once again, the TA yearbook earned the highest honor possible for a yearbook. “Receiving a Trophy Class Rating is comparable to winning a State Championship,” senior head editor Lindsey Taylor said. “We are thrilled about our award and are working hard to maintain this success for yet another year.”
The staff of the Crag has been able to capture a Trophy Class rating for three consecutive years. “It’s even more rewarding to know that we did so well because I was a part of the staff last year. As co-editor this year, I will do all that I can to make it four in a row,” senior co-editor Rachel Pennington said.
When a yearbook is entered into the evaluation it is judged on theme, coverage, design, photography, and writing. In order to receive a Trophy Class rating, the book must earn marks of Superior in five of the six categories. “ Comments that we receive from the book’s critique allow us to improve each section of the book for the next year. It helps our book get better each year,” junior section editor Michele Klamut said.
Students on the Crag staff who contributed to the award wining book are: Rachel Pennington, Lindsey Taylor, Morgan Privott, Kellie Wine, Michele Klamut, Hannah Glick, Nikole Helmick, Mary Peale, Tanna Carr, Rachel FitzGearld, Lacey Derrow, Artem Moiseyenko, Sarah Bosserman, Rachel Rees, Hannah Leigh, Kendall Hancock, Jesse Hess, Megan Hebdon, and Carrie Litten. Their adviser is Mrs. Leslie Stevens.
In addition to book doing so well, several students on the staff received individual honors in the Group AA Yearbook State Writing/Photo/Design Contest. Their names are listed below. |
