School Board Announces Selection
Dr. Carol Fenn Will Be Rockingham's Superintendent

 

At 12:00 noon, March 9, 2007, the Rockingham County School Board met to appoint Dr. Carol Fenn, Superintendent of Schools beginning July 1, 2007.

Dr. Fenn has worked in various roles in public education for the last 27 years. She has previously worked as an elementary school teacher, assistant principal in an elementary school, elementary school and middle school principal, and several central office administrative positions. Her previous experiences have been in Augusta County, Goochland County, Bath County, and Shenandoah County. She has most recently served as Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Interim Superintendent in Shenandoah County where she worked for 13 years.

Dr. Fenn stated that she is "very excited to work in such a fine school division as Rockingham County. It is a dream fulfilled." Mr. Dan Breeden, Chairman of the Rockingham County School Board, stated, "We are very excited to have Dr. Fenn lead our division to continue the excellence of our previous School Superintendents." Dr. Fenn becomes the 8th Superintendent of Rockingham County Public Schools.

The Rockingham County School Board received 11 applicants for the position and interviewed 5 candidates. Three candidates were invited back to the county for second interviews, and Dr. Fenn was selected.
