The Educational Technology Plan for Rockingham County Public Schools is modeled after the 2010-2015 Educational Technology Plan for Virginia. (click here to download the State Plan). Indeed, every goal and objective in the state plan appears in this RCPS plan. Each state strategy and evaluation strategy has a corresponding RCPS strategy and evaluation strategy. The Actions link above details all the goals, strategies, and evaluations for Virginia and for Rockingham County Public Schools.

Any plan, whether a technology plan or otherwise, should focus on continuing to do what is being done well and state a course of action to achieve those goals not yet reached. This is precisely what the 2010 Technology Plan for Rockingham County Public Schools has tried to accomplish. The Technology Plan Update calls for Rockingham County Public Schools to continue to provide the technologies, services, and support it has provided for many years but to keep an eye on the technological horizon. As Rockingham County Public Schools fully aligns to the 2010-15 Educational Technology Plan for Virginia, the RCPS technology motto is more pertinent than ever:

When it comes to learning, we click!

The 2010-15 Technology Plan for Rockingham County Public Schools is actually a subset of the RCPS Comprehensive Plan. The RCPS Comprehensive plan includes seven broad areas: Student Achievement, Technology, Diversity, Safe Schools, Parental/Community Involvement, Employees, and Fiscal Responsibility. The Mission Statement of the Comprehensive Plan is as follows: The Rockingham County School Board constantly strives to balance the needs of the entire school division in order to improve the educational opportunities for all students, while at the same time supporting and rewarding our employees as they meet their challenges. As good stewards of the taxpayers’ money, quality and efficiency are our operational goals while maximizing the benefits to our students, employees, and the community. We must also always be good stewards of the taxpayers money, recognizing that they cannot, indeed will not, be overburdened with excessive tax increases.

The 2010-15 Technology Plan for Rockingham County Public Schools is written to both support the Comprehensive Plan and enable the Division to be a state leader in the use of technology to expand student opportunities as well as to explore and implement innovative ways to improve teaching, learning, and productivity in all schools.
