Flexible Spending
Account

- The Flexible Spending Account option is
administered by Layman, Diener & Borntrager
Insurance. This optional benefit allows employees to pre-tax
dependent care expenses and unreimbursed medical expenses.

Life Insurance

- Group life insurance is provided to full-time
employees who are employed under a contract or salary agreement.
- The policy amount is equal to twice the VRS
(Virginia Retirement System) annual salary rounded up to the next
$1,000.
- Active VRS members may purchase optional life
insurance in the amount equal to one, two, three, or four times annual
salary. In addition, optional life insurance is available for
spouse and dependent children.

Long Term Care Insurance
 |
- Long Term Care insurance is offered to individuals who are employed under a contract or salary agreement. The employee must be employed on at least a .50 full-time equivalent (FTE) basis in order to participate.
- Genworth Life Insurance Company is the provider. For additional information, including plan details and rates, visit Genworth Life at www.genworth.com/cov or contact Customer Service at 1-866-859-6060.
- Eligible family members between the ages of 18 and 79 may also apply for this coverage, even if the employee does not choose to sign up. Eligible family members include an employee’s spouse, adult children, parents, parents-in-law, step parents, step parents-in-law, grandparents, grandparents-in-law, step grandparents and step grandparents-in-law. Eligible family members, and actively at work employees aged 80 and over, must provide evidence of good health and be approved for this coverage.

New Teacher Benefits
 |
- New Teacher Orientation Program
- Teachers, new to the profession, are assigned a
mentor within their building.
- Training is provided to teachers who are new to
the division.
- Staff development and professional growth
opportunities.

Personal Leave
 |
- Employees who have contracts or salary
agreements equal to at least .50 FTE will earn personal leave.
- Full-time employees earn three days and
part-time employees earn two days.

regarding accumulation of personal leave and

Sick Leave
 |
- Employees who have contracts or salary
agreements equal to at least .50 FTE will earn sick leave.
- Sick leave is earned at the rate of one day per
month for each full month of employment. Leave earnings for
less than full-time employment shall be prorated accordingly.

Sick Leave Bank

Tuition Assistance
Program

- Tuition reimbursement is available for full-time professional personnel required to hold a VDOE license and to full-time teacher assistants as they seek license renewal and is subject to budgetary restrictions.

- Membership in the Virginia Credit Union is
offered to all employees.

Virginia Retirement
System (VRS)
 |
- Full-time employees are covered under VRS. VRS has two benefit structures for members, Plan 1 and Plan 2.
- Plan 1 — You are covered under the provisions of the VRS Plan 1 if your membership date is before July 1, 2010. You may be an active or deferred member. You are an active member if you are currently working in a covered position. You are a deferred member if you are not currently working in a covered position but have not withdrawn your funds and have service credit in VRS or an account balance in an optional retirement plan as of June 30, 2010. If you are a deferred member and return to covered employment, you will be rehired under Plan 1.
- Plan 2 — You are covered under the provisions of the VRS Plan 2 if your membership date is July 1, 2010 or later. If you were previously employed in a covered position and withdrew your funds, you will be rehired under Plan 2 if you return to covered employment with no service credit in VRS or no account balance in a Virginia optional retirement plan.
